News: Artwork Accepted by M Review

I was very excited on Thursday of last week to receive an email from M Review saying (in part) the following:

I am pleased to inform you that your submission "The Three Mothers" has been selected for publication in the visual art section of the 2007 edition of M Review.

This is the painting:

Art Image WS Myth 3 Mothers.JPG

They want a better, larger picture, which I'll be sending out shortly, together with my bio and, optionally, a photo of me.

So far, 2007 has been shaping up to be a banner year in art sales.

GORGOUS painting!
It looks very interesting, is there a meaning behind it? I'd love to know what it is.
Congrats on getting published!Very exciting.

thanks for the nice comment. the pastel of the Three Mothers is based on a sculpture i saw in the megolithic tombs in ireland... it was just scratched into the wall -- mine is just a tad more elaborate. a lot of old buildings, tombs and churches in ireland have some sort of holdovers from the druidic or pagan religions. the triple goddess is among them -- virgin, mother, crone. the designs on the "bodies" of my mothers are old moon symbols. i used soft pastels on colored paper.
