Title: No Philosphy #2

This is a calligraphy piece I did for Boskone in February. I finished it the night before we left and it sold that weekend. I only managed to get this rather poor quality picture:

Sagan Piece 3.jpg

The quote is from J.B.S. Haldane, and the words say:

Now my own suspicion is that the universe is not only queerer than we suppose but queerer than we can suppose. That is the reason why I have no philosophy myself and must be my excuse for dreaming.

The picture above the words is a small picture I entitled: Dancing Nebulaes.

Date Created: February 2007

Medium: Transparent Acrylics on watercolor paper

Status: SOLD February 2007

Comments: I have always liked this quote, and I may have first heard it when Carl Sagan quoted Haldane. I had previously done a small shadow box piece, entitled "No Philosophy" and may do something else based on this quote. I thought it an appropriate post for today since this is Tartan Week here in New York, and J.B.S. Haldane is claimed by the Scots as one of their own.
