Comments: My father's family is from Glasgow, Scotland, and my mother's family is from County Clare, Ireland. Despite what they themselves sometimes think, the Scots and Irish come from the same Celtic cultural background. Growing up, our parents always try to incorporate both into our upbringing. So, we went to Scottish Games and Irish feis and took dancing lesson from both Scottish and Irish dancing schools. I always tried to sing both styles of celtic music back in my band and bar days. So when I made these hairsticks, I thought someone with a similar background might enjoy them.
