Sketch of the Week 23: Couple at Lecture
Another sketch from lectures during Tartan Week:

At an intermission, I spotted this rather unusual couple. I never saw his face at all, just a long fall of hair. She was skinny and little and dressed entirely in beige and pink, with lots of scarves and dreadlocks and things tied in her hair. They were not very interested in the discussion of Piping that I could see.
Also, this week, I thought I'd show the notebook that I'm using for sketches and notes these days. It is a great size -- 3-1/2" x 6", that fits just right into a bag, or even a coat pocket. Front and back:

I received three of them long ago from my friend MaryAnn Johanson. One was lost when a bag was stolen; the other has been used to the point where it is falling apart. This is the last one. They have a real "Indiana Jones" quality about them, which is why she gave them to me (thanks, MaryAnn).
The color of the paper can only be described as "cardboard carton color." And it's a good paper for sketching -- the pages are not shiny, a nice neutral color, and they hold ink and marker well. They're cool, and I love using them. I'll be really sad when this one is used up too.
