Comments: This is a very early painting I did, long before I went to Ireland. It is a composite of several images I had seen in books and magazines. When I got finally got to Ireland, there were no women -- young nor old -- wearing shawls and carrying a string bag. It was all very much the modern, Celtic Tiger, sort of Ireland when I got there and everyone was very much up to date.
