Sketch of the Week 18: Jack in the Pulpit

jackinthepulpit.jpg

Today is the first day of Spring. Well, technically, Spring starts at 8:07 p.m. EDT this evening. In honor of the occasion, this is one of my very early sketches -- certainly the earliest that I still have in my possession -- made back when I was younger than springtime myself. This is a Jack-in-the-Pulpit, so-called because the bulb is like a little man inside a medieval pulpit. Jack-in-the-Pulpits bloom from late March through July, so this is an appropriate time to post a picture of one.
