News Item: Art Work Stolen! Have You Seen This Painting?
What do Edvard Munch, Leonardo da Vinci, Jan Vermeer, and Francisco de Goya, now have in common with me? We've all had at least one of our works stolen.
In July, I posted on this site pictures entitled: Early, Middle and Late -- a triptych of very small paintings. Well, at PhilCon this past weekend, the "Early" painting was stolen.

The painting, in its frame, is only about 2.5" x 2", and was swiped off the table display (similar to the one shown below) sometime between Friday night and Saturday morning.

I'm not blaming the Art Show people, they do their best with limited resources and an all volunteer staff. And even with an all night guard on the room, things will happen. I mean, the recent stolen de Goya was taken off the truck of professional art movers! In all the years I've been doing shows at conventions, this is the first time I've ever had anything stolen.
And, in a weird way, I suppose it's a type of compliment. This person liked my work well enough to steal it. Not so complimentary is that they didn't like it well enough to compensate me, or even leave a ransom note.
Another thing that puzzles me is, why that one painting? The pieces work best as a set. If the person had the skill and cunning to tip one of the little paintings into a pocket or bag, why not all three?
I left the other two up for sale as a truncated set, reducing the starting bid price

but there were no takers. Their sales future is uncertain.
