WorldCon Schedule

So, as I've mentioned before, I'm sure, we're off to WorldCon on the 23rd of August. The "We"being myself, a boxload of artworks, and my best friend, the frighteningly talented MaryAnn Johanson.

We have a busy time ahead of us. On the day we arrive (after very little sleep, I'm sure), we have to get to the hotel from the airport and then we need to find my artwork, pick up our memberships and set up the art show. MaryAnn acts as my lackey (she has a button that actually says "Lackey") and keeps me calm. I'm always a wreck until the artwork is hung, the art show people check the paperwork and I can go to the room and take a shower and change clothes. The show opens up at 7:00 on the Wednesday night but the actual reception isn't until Thursday night. After I am set up and feeling human again, it's MaryAnn's turn to run around.

She will be on about a dozen panels a day discussing her take on movies, geek culture and the internet... as well as pushing her book: The Totally Geeky Guide to the Princess Bride. You can check out her complete schedule here. She'll be dispensing wisdom and exchanging philosophical thought with some of the leading lights of science fiction writing, art, the net and geek culture like Cory Doctorow, Patrick and Theresa Nielsen Hayden, and Alan Dean Foster

As for me, I'll be planning to spend some time hanging around the art show, talking with other artists about their art, taking pictures (if they'll let me), and standing by my own panel, trying to get a feel for what the public likes. In addition to my party on Saturday night the 26th, where I'll be selling prints and giving away little door prizes and trying to interest people in speculative art.
