COMMENTS: I used to do a lot of illuminated manuscript work, like kettubahs and house blessings and marriage certificates. The were full of words and the words just made images. I always enjoyed doing them and hope to do some illustrations of poems in the future. diablo 2 character generator
I recently realized that this year is the 10th anniversary of the death of Carl Sagan. Hard to believe. Carl Sagan was the man who made science sexy, and fun, and accessible... which didn't always endear him to other scientists. I don't know why. We geeky types are always complaining how scientists are portrayed as nerds, and dorks and unsexy and kind of removed from "regular" humans. And here was Carl Sagan, none of those things. So you'd think they'd have wanted to emmulate him. But ten years on and I don't see any new guys coming along to take his place in making science something everyone can talk about. Carl Sagan said and did things that made space travel seem not only possible, but inevitable. Science fiction conventions are full of people who want to believe that (including me). So to pay tribute to him and because he was a man of words -- and science fiction conventions are also full of people who worship words (including me) -- I decided to do a couple of illuminations using some of my favorite quotes from "Pale Blue Dot." diablo 2 character generator
