COMMENTS: I do a couple of art shows at science fiction conventions each year. I always try to have a few new things for Boskone, which is held in Boston every February. I've always been fascinated by skulls and heads (must be the Celtic blood) and this painting started out as a small experiment. I had just purchased a whole new set of transparent acrylic paints and wanted to see what they could do. They're amazing! I had done a solid pale blue/gray wash on the background, which I kept building on and found that you could paint light over dark if you used the right values. I had also inherited a number of frames from my uncle's estate, ranging in size from 1 x 1 to 18 x 24 (inches). I was so pleased with the results, I decided to frame this and bring it as one of the new pieces to display and sell.

STATUS: SOLD at Boskone, February 2007
